BOLLORE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS TANZANIA participatING in the 4th
edition of Marathon Day
to benefit SOS CHILDRENS
VILLAGES
On Thursday, September 26, 2019, 200 employees from Tanzaniaare taking part
in the the 4th edition of the Marathon Day. This internal sporting
event was created by Cyrille Bolloré, CEO of the Bolloré Group, to raise every funds
for charity organisations every year.
Since 2016, Marathon Day has
brought together employees from all Bolloré Group subsidiariesaround the world
on the same day at the same time. This year, 200employees will be completing the
5-kilometre run in Dar es Salaam . For each registration, three euros are
donated to a charity organisation. The Group, which supports young people
through its sponsorship programs, has decided
this year to support SOS Childrens Villages International, as it did last year
in 2018.
For over 60 years, SOS Childrens Villages has supported
children whose family situations have forced them to be housed elsewhere. It
allows siblings to grow up together in a family-like environment, supported by
an educational and effective long-lasting relationship in link with a family
educator (the "SOS mother"). Beyond its mission to host children, it
also develops programmes to promote access to education, professional training
and healthcare. Furthermore, it works to strengthen family ties and prevent
abandonment.
Closer to us here at Mabibo we pride ourselves in the
change we are able to bring to the communities that surround us; in this regard
we will be working closely with Mabibo Secondary School on the following
actions in the months ahead:
1.
Donating 40 tables and office chairs to the school for use in the
Administrative block (staff rooms);
2.
Creating a full-functional computer lab which will allow Mabibo Secondary
Schools to offer computer studies and set itself apart while giving students
the much needed introduction into today’s world of technology; and
3.
Constructing a state of the art buo-gas toilets for use by the students to
improve hygiene conditions of the school as well as reducing expenses on the
school as the bio-gas produced from the tudent’s waste can ne used to make
cooking gas, electricity and even manure for use in garden.
