TANZANIA
Breweries Limited (TBL) has been named the best listed firm in the main
market segment of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE)’s second
episode of the equity market members’ awards.
The
brewing firm’s high ranking at the DSE’s 2017 awards was contributed by
its splendid performance of the share trading at the equity market.
“This is a clear indication that the country does value our role in the economy. We thank our shareholders and members of staff.
We promise to keep doing
well so that our investment and operations can sustainably benefit
lives of an increased number of Tanzanians,” he said.
The company’s share
fetched a weighted average price of 11,100/- during the first day of
trading on January 2, 2017. However, it has since gained by about 17 per
cent. Last week TBL’s share traded at a weighted average of 13,000/-.
During the preceding
week TBL dominated trading activities at the DSE to help the market to
register its record performance since the beginning of 2017.
The award granting
ceremony was graced by the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of
Finance and Planning, Ms Dorothy Mwanyika in Dar es Salaam at the
weekend.
The DSE Members’ Awards
is an initiative by the DSE to recognize and award its members for good
corporate governance, investor protection, sustainable growth of their
businesses, engagement with investors and the public, as well as good
fundamental performance and corporate social responsibilities.
