Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony at Kalangalala ward in Geita Town, the Geita Regional Commissioner Eng. Robert Gabriel said Geita Gold Mining Limited (GGML) and Geita Town Council under the 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility Plan have jointly agreed to execute the project.
The project will cover an area of 4000 square meters and has objectives of creating recreational areas for Geita residents for physical activity, relaxation, peace, and an escape from the heat.
“Our aim is to see people come here and enjoy the fresh air because there will be a special Regional Memorial Monument with passages from different directions. The space will also have the well-decorated paving blocks, street concrete benches, and paving slabs all aiming at making a good and friendly environment for people to rest and enjoy,” said the Regional Commissioner.
The GGML Managing Director Richard Jordinson said Geita Gold Mining Limited has always worked diligently to change the appearance of the Geita community by establishing sustainable projects.
“GGML is proud that as we celebrate our 20 years anniversary this year, we have successfully executed a number of impactful strategic projects including the monumental community projects of Geita Town round about, market frames, street lights, health centres, schools and tarmac roads,” he said.
