TAXIFY EMPOWERS BAJAJI DRIVER-PARTNERS WITH SMARTPHONES IN DAR ES SALAAM

13-May-2018, Dar es Salaam. Taxify, the world's fastest-growing ride-sharing company is now empowering Bajaji driver-partners by providing them with smartphones. The initiative is intended to help Bajaji drivers access the Taxify platform, improve their businesses and unlock higher earnings.

Taxify Tanzania Operations Manager, Remmy Eseka said, "Hundreds of Bajaji drivers are eager to work with us but obtaining a smartphone has been a big challenge for them. We are making it easier for these drivers to gain access to the Taxify platform by providing them with these devices on credit. Through the earnings that they will have access to once they start working with us, they will be able to pay for the phones in manageable instalments."

On his part, Steven Simon, Taxify’s Bajaji driver-partner and a resident of Kunduchi Mtongani in Dar es Salaam said the platform has changed how they are doing business. "With Taxify, we no longer have to wait for long periods of time at the stage to get clients, we can receive requests from anywhere in the city. We are able to make more money now than we did before, " he added.

Taxify remains committed to securing driver-partner earnings. The commission levied on trips is only 15% compared to the industry average of 25%. This means Taxify is able to charge lower fares to riders and still have drivers earn more than on other platforms.
